"PIRATES FILM" - - "PIRATES PARTY"

Arrr-rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-rrrrrrrrrr -

Well, just as in the past- how many have looked forward to the Star Wars Sequel, and others the Shrek Sequel, this would be my personal "anticipation" film. (If for nothing else looking at Johnny Depp!) I don't go to many movies, but am proud to say that I have seen TWO PIRATE MOVIES in the theater. I will again go and PAY to see this movie and then probably buy the DVD as I have the last two. I have downloaded all "Pirates Music" (compliments to composer Hans Zimmer) because I think the music makes the film. Pirates 2 - - wasn't as good and I noticed that there was a different composer on this one. (okay Hans had one or two songs, but most were done by someone else) Disney messed up when they got that "other" guy. (Yes, I'm not only a movie critic, but music too - - MULTI - TALENTED! ) LOVED the first Pirates - - 2nd one okay - but really really looking forward to this 3rd movie. (being the music person I am - I had to check to see if Hans Zimmer did the music! - - and he did - so I"M THERE) By the way (more info you probably don't want to know) - - Hans Zimmer also did the music for Spirit **the horse**(a kids flick) which I listen to the soundtrack daily. Movie kind of lags - - but the music is to die for! Anyway, I'm quite sure I will be at a first showing at the movies - - FIRST (to see Johnnny Depp) SECOND (To hear the great composed music of Hans Zimmer) and THIRD - - to see what the heck is going on with "Captain Jack Sparrow" - - Geez - he was pretty much swallowed up last time I watched!

More on the Pirates subject - - Michelle is having a birthday party for Ethan this Sunday. She's doing a whole "pirates" theme. Well, I thought I would be really cool and I bought a couple of pirate costumes (Steve, of course would be Jack Sparrow) - - I would be a pirate wench. Well, Steve informed me tonight that he probably wouldn't wear the costume, so guess I'll be the COOL Grandparent and come in costume. (These kids will remember this - -I promise!) So we'll keep the "Jack Sparrow" costume for a Halloween party or something - - or, if I just want to see Johnny Depp, maybe I'll dress the dog! (KIDDING!)

Anyway - a PIRATE WEEKEND COMING UP. YO - HO - YO - HO. Love to all. Teri

This weekend we babysat for Mimi - Michelle's Chocolate Lab. I actually got them both to "sit still" for a couple of photos. (Okay, I'll admit that a milkbone in the photographers hand was a good bribe!)

The memorial service for Don Ho was a visual spectacle — a water-cannon salute by the Honolulu Fire Department's fire boat, a helicopter flower drop and a memorial flyby by a Hawai'i Air National Guard F-15 Eagle fighter jet.

Concert-goers blew tiny bubbles into the Waikiki night to conclude a tribute to Hawai'i entertainer Don Ho.
Honolulu police estimated the crowd at tonight's concert at 10,000 people — far less than the 25,000 that organizers had expected.
The concert ended with everyone singing "Hawai'i Pono'i," just after Ho's daughter, Hoku, sang her father's standard, "I'll Remember You."
"That was for daddy," Hoku Ho said. "I love you daddy."
Earlier, Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona said, "I've never seen anything like this in my lifetime....Whether it was his music or his spirit, we will remember Don Ho."
The concert featuring an all-star lineup of Hawai'i entertainers included tributes by Hawai'i dignitaries, such as state Sen. Clayton Hee and Mayor Mufi Hannemann.
It began with performances by Sonny Ching's Halau Na Mamo 'O Pu'uanahulu, Society of Seven Las Vegas, the Brothers Cazimero and several of Ho's children.
Jimmy Borges changed the lyrics of "My Way" to "We love you so, you're our Don Ho."
Earlier, Ho's family scattered his ashes in the waters off Waikiki, accompanied by a water-cannon salute by the Honolulu Fire Department's fire boat, a helicopter flower drop and a memorial flyby by a Hawai'i Air National Guard F-15 Eagle fighter jet.
Ho's ashes were scattered at 5:50 p.m. about half a mile offshore.
Ho's family had held a private service that included a recording of Ho singing "I'll Remember You" and live performances by some of his 10 children.
Ho's ashes sat in the front of the service in a koa urn and were later divided in ti leaves and carried by family members to the beach in front of the Royal Hawaiian.
The procession made its way to the flotilla amid the blowing of conch shells.
The mood of the service was relaxed, with some people applauding the performances by Ho's children. Others cried, especially when the two Ho recordings were played.
Family members wore white and were joined by Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann, Honolulu Police Chief Boisse Correa and U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie.
"It's a sad day," Hannemann said. "I think Don wants us to celebrate his life."
Pastor Tom Ainucci described Ho as an athlete, veteran and entertainer who "embodied the spirit of aloha."
Ho's philosophy, Ainucci said, was "that everybody should be treated fairly, that everybody should be welcomed."
The service on the lawn of the Sheraton Waikiki hotel, adjacent to the Royal Hawaiian hotel, attracted dozens of tourists who ringed the area and watched from hotel windows.
Hilton employees presented Ho's family with a 76-foot-long plumeria lei they made that was draped on the canoe carrying Ho's ashes.
Each foot of the lei is intended to honor each year of Ho's life. He died April 14 of heart failure.

Keeping with the "Tropical" spirit, after our return from Hawaii, Aubry, Ethan and Brooklyn sported their new Hawaiian dresses and shirt from Grandpa Stevie and Grandma t-t. Michelle joined in by putting on a parrot hat and we listened to Jimmy Buffet (what else). You know you have to "ease into" returning to the main land. This is Brooklyn sporting the parrot hat.

Matt, Brooke, Aubry, Brooklyn, Ethan, Brian, Michelle, and good ol' friend (from our Riverside neighborhood) Mandy were all present. We had a great time together.

Hawaii-2nd Honeymoon for our 30th Anniversary

Hi All -

To follow are just a few of the hundreds of pictures we took while on our trip to Hawaii. What wonderful relaxing time we had.

We arrived the evening that Oahu was having a large "Remember Don Ho" evening with all of the major Hawaiian celebrities giving a concert on Don Ho's behalf. When we checked into our room, we looked out the balcony to see vast numbers of Kayaks. We heard from the "locals" that they were heading out to the ocean to spread Don Ho's ashes. We watched the concert on the local television station (we were exhausted from the 5 hour plane trip, and the thought of joining the thousands of people on the beach for this event was unthinkable).

Our activities included a sunset cruise for our 30th anniversary dinner, a day to drive around the Island and experience the GREAT shrimp on the North Shore, a tour of Maui Divers Jewelry designers (very interesting to see how jewelry is crafted), and who could visit "Blue Hawaii" without an Elvis show - - - he lives!

Our unplanned "TRIP" was Teri STUMBLING over a book bag in the middle of the night, while getting up to go to the restroom and falling on her side on the marble bathroom floor - - cracking ribs. Sleeping was extremely painful. But with alot of Aleve, Motrin, and ANYTHING that would help with the pain, we tried to let it not spoil our wonderful time.

Until next time. Back to "THE REAL LIFE" - - We had a wonderful time.
